These are new nocturnes, written for and about the night.

Jon Birdsong and Anthony Romaniuk come from different worlds. Different continents anyway, literally and musically. Romaniuk (Australian living in Belgium) comes from the continent of classical music. Birdsong (American living in Belgium) comes from the continent of jazz and alternative pop music. Their current projects speak for a wide range of experience and acclaim. Romaniuk's work with Patricia Kopatchinskaja and cellist Pieter Wispelwey, as well as solo recitals and numerous collaborations have brought him to concert halls worldwide. Birdsong's current group Black Flower is cutting a path through the European music scene as well as (also) numerous collaborations with artists such as Lisa Van der Aa and B.O.X.

Their common spirit and interest in creative music have brought this collaboration together with high result.

After recording the project in Het Vleeshuis museum (of note is the Gunther piano, 1903) and DeSingel, Antwerp, this intimate music is ready to go out into the world.

The blend and counterpoint of piano and trumpet (of note is Birdsong's use of modern trumpet and, also a kind of trumpet, the cornetto) serve to realize this newly written music-

Nocturnes.
